hello, everyone! I’m cyan, though you may also know me as pumpkinpaix. (*´▽`*) this is just where I’m putting my scattered translation efforts. I translate with neither speed nor efficiency, but I like to think I translate with conscience.

愚妹移山
I derived the name for this site from the chinese idiom 愚公移山 | yu2 gong1 yi2 shan1: the foolish old man moves mountains. you can read the basic rundown of the story on wikipedia here, if you are so inclined.
I am not an old man (currently), thus 妹 | mei4 (younger sister, young girl) instead of 公. 愚妹 is a homophone of the negative 愚昧 | yu2 mei4, which means “ignorant” or “uneducated”. as a heritage chinese speaker born and raised in the US, I have spent most of my life feeling stupid and childish and ignorant when faced with my native tongue and culture. I have a great deal of racial baggage that I’ve always been too scared to touch. but in the end, nothing will change if I don’t try! it comforts me to think that even the most ignorant kid can move mountains with perseverance and good faith.
